Competition policy was once considered the exclusive domain of legal advisors. When it came to the letter of the law, traditionalists believed that there was simply no need for communications and public relations support.
That was then, this is now. Following a number of high profile antitrust cases at EU level, the audience following competition law has grown far beyond a closed circle of lawyers, plaintiffs and defendants. As the media and public start paying more attention to competition cases (and the related business implications), the importance of having an integrated media and public relations strategy to complement legal activities is no longer an oddity—it’s a necessity.

Hill+Knowlton Strategies' competition team is made up of former lawyers, journalists, and EU institution officials. We understand the law, the need for confidentiality and the importance of using one word over another. We also understand the highly sensitive nature of media outreach around sensitive cases. Our team will work with you to develop an integrated communications strategy focused on advancing your legal objectives.

We can assist clients at all stages of a procedure – from when rumours start to fly about a possible investigation to the follow-up in the aftermath of the court’s decision.

The lawyers make the case in court. We’ll make it in the court of public opinion.

Advising a diverse range of clients across a number of policy areas requires flexibility, awareness and attention to detail (ability to juggle: optional).
